2021 – Shenandoah National Park in Winter

The mountains, they – they be a calling; and I – I be a listening – and they did not disappoint! Little Stony Man in Shenandoah National Park was splendid today (February 26). With temperatures around 30 degrees F and no wind, it was about a perfect day to be on the trail. The snow had frozen enough to have a loud crunch, like walking on kettle chips, but it was peaceful and beautiful. It was slick and icy in a few spots, but it was mostly friendly. Nice frozen icicles throughout the park – many were visible alongside the road, which is clear with no traffic. I recommend going in the winter, even if you don’t get out of the car.
